The Alfred Latour Foundation and the Abbey of Fontenay presents the exhibition “Alfred Latour, Fabric Designer”. It recounts the collaboration of three friends: Alfred Latour the artist, Pierre Aynard the publisher and François Brunet Lecomte the printer on fabric. This exhibition brings together previously unseen mural hangings inspired by the Cistercian Abbey of Fontenay reprinted in 2020 using the frame-printing technique with reproductions of the various fashion and furnishing designs that Latour produced in the 1950.
The exhibition, Alfred Latour, Fabric Designer brings together for the first time the mural hangings inspired by the Cistercian Abbey of Fontenay with the various fashion and furnishing designs that Latour produced at the request of the Abbey’s owner, his friend, the design editor Pierre Aynard.
A comprehensive exhibition of Alfred Latour’s photography was organized, for the very first time, at the Réattu Museum.
Here, presented to public view, is the painter Alfred Latour’s own collection of his photographs: a private album, so to speak, of the place where he lived.
The exhibition presents the works of Alfred Latour in all their breadth and variety: as painter, engraver, and talented watercolourist, but also as book illustrator and maker, celebrated photographer, advertising artist and fabric designer.
